Back when there was less villainy and more sincerity and kindness in the world

Back when there was less villainy and more sincerity and kindness in the world

November 7 saw the successful premiere of the adventure drama series “Anna the Detective” on TV-3. The story is centered around a young local girl Anna Mironova (Aleksandra Nikiforova) of remarkable intuition and wits, living in a small town of Zatonsk at the end of the 19th century. She definitely stands out among her peers. Despite her modest backwater upbringing, Anna is quite well-educated. Most locals consider her weird, as she cares little for the proper girls’ pastime: she would rather go for a bicycle race than engage in dull needlework, wears a pair of bloomers, not to mention she’s into spiritualistic practices... Her quirks are frowned upon by the society, but Anna couldn’t care less. Her very soul yearns for an adventure! One day she meets Yakov Shtolman (Dmitry Frid), a metropolitan detective visiting Zatonsk on a secret mission, a sworn bachelor and a die-hard materialist. Yakov is initially distrustful of Anna, who offers him help in the investigation, but he eventually warms up to the peculiar girl and starts heeding her counsel. Together they take on many baffling and mysterious cases.
